Perhaps no other actor has a fleeting relationship with public life than Daniel Day-Lewis, so it's no surprise that when it comes to his personal life, not much is known.
The famously elusive actor married the love of his life, writer-director Rebecca Miller, back in 1996. The pair met in 1995 when Day-Lewis was working on The Crucible, based on Rebecca's father, Arthur Miller's play of the same name. While the pair maintains a quiet life away from the spotlight, they have attended several events together over the course of their nearly three-decade-long union.

Day-Lewis met Miller in 1995, when he was visiting her father, Arthur Miller, after being cast in The Crucible. The pair clearly hit it off as they were married in a small ceremony in Vermont the following year.

A famous method actor, Day-Lewis didn't hold back on his process as he was working with his wife. For his role as Jack Slavin in the movie, he opted to live separately from their family so as to tap into the themes of isolation the film required. Rebecca was game.
"Every actor does what he feels he needs to do to keep that reality intact, and that was his way of doing it," she told The Washington Post in 2005. "It's a kind of focus. Which he has about everything. When he's tying his shoes, he's tying his shoes, and nothing can distract him from that.”
