One more reason that Clueless is special to Alicia Silverstone is that her late mother, Didi, had a cameo.
"There's a wedding scene — my mom is in the back, and she died, this night, six years ago," Silverstone said during a 30th anniversary screening of the movie Wednesday at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, N.Y., per PEOPLE. "So it's really lovely to have, because I love her and miss her, and so it was very moving to see that moment and go like, 'Oh my God, there's my mommy,' and tonight's the night. Tonight's the night she passed. So, that's very nice."

The 'Clueless' wedding
In the beloved 1995 movie, a modern take on Jane Austen's Emma, a wedding takes place between Ms. Geist (Twink Caplan) and Wallace Shawn's Mr. Hall, whom Silverstone's character, Cher, had set up. At first, she had done it for better grades, but she later realized that she was happy to bring people joy.
Didi Silverstone, who was part of the scene, died in 2019.

Her famous daughter, who's now 49, has publicly remembered her before.
In May 2021, for instance, the actress wrote about their last years together to mark Mother's Day.
"I loved my mommy. Her smell. Her skin. Her hands and feet. She was so beautiful, every part of her," Silverstone wrote on her The Kind Life website. "My mother lived lightly on the earth, she planted seeds in me, she loved animals, and she taught me to never be materialistic or waste anything."
The Bugonia actress explained that her mom told her in her final months, "I hope I've been a good enough mother for you."
Silverstone also recalled some helpful words she heard about that time.
"A friend of mine who lost his mom the year before I lost mine gave me some sound advice: 'Be present with her in the end, just be there for the last breath,'" Silverstone recalled. "And I was. Holding her for the final 48 hours of her life as she took her exit. I melted into this experience of taking care of my mom during those years. It was a gift."

Silverstone has also noted her appreciation for her most famous film, which was directed by Amy Heckerling and featured a cast including Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, Donald Faison, Justin Walker, Dan Hedaya, and the late Brittany Murphy.
She's even set to star in and produce an upcoming Peacock series that will revisit the stylish story.
"I think we're going to try really hard. The goal is to make it honor what everyone loves about Clueless and Cher," Silverstone told Today in August. "So we want to honor that, but also bring something fresh and new to it. I'm confident that we'll be able to do that, but we're in baby stages right now."
