Daredevil: Born Again season 2's sixth episode reveals a new character that signals the return of Mike Colter's Luke Cage.

Krysten Ritter officially makes her comeback as Jessica Jones in this episode, which teases where Luke has been.

Colter was spotted on the season 3 set alongside Ritter and fellow Defenders alum Finn Jones.

Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones makes her grand return to the Marvel universe with the sixth episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, but she's not alone. It's a whole family affair that signals the arrival of another prominent Defender.

Jones enters the fray when the men under the employ of Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard) attack her at her home, where we meet Danielle, her daughter.

In Marvel Comics, Danielle is the child of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, the bulletproof Harlem Hero. One alternate universe sees her inheriting the powers of both parents and becoming her world's Captain America. It's unclear what powers the Danielle of Daredevil: Born Again may or may not have, but we know her birth impacted Jessica's.

"After Danielle, it just drops out sometimes, then comes back," she says in episode 6, "Requiem," referring to the sudden spurts where her super strength becomes inactive. "I don't think there's an owner's manual for this s---." We see how that plays out in a warehouse battle.

Mike Colter previously starred as Luke Cage opposite Ritter in Marvel's various Defenders series on Netflix, including headlining his own two-season Luke Cage show from 2016-2018.

Photos leaked from the set of Daredevil: Born Again season 3 in early April showed Colter back in character, along with Ritter's P.I. sleuth and Finn Jones as the returning Danny Rand/Iron Fist. Season 2 seems to be laying that groundwork, including with another reference to Luke later on in "Requiem."

Forced to enter the battle against Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), Jessica meets Daredevil (Charlie Cox) on a rooftop overlooking a warehouse that holds a stash of Kingpin's guns. During that exchange, she mentions how Mr. Charles called her a while back. He was "interested in people like us," she says — meaning super-powered individuals. "I told him to f--- off. Not everyone I know did."

So Luke seems to be off working for Mr. Charles somewhere, and the bespectacled government goon appears to be her only connection to him.

Colter previously teased his return to the character in a March 3 episode of Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast, where he declared, "I do think now it's time."

“I’ve had discussions with Marvel," he said confirmed at the time, "and I do think that it’s very, very likely that I will come back at some point, but I don’t know when. But I think I will."

In teasing Daredevil: Born Again season 3, Cox told Entertainment Weekly, "It feels like we've shed the skin of the Mayor Fisk era. It feels like it's a new book, a new dawn a little bit." He noted, "It's still a continuation, obviously, but it's slightly different. I can't give anything away, but it's a new thing, which is fun."

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has two more episodes left, with the finale set to release May 5 on Disney+. Season 3 continues filming in New York City.
