Eric Dane's wife, Rebecca Gayheart, has shared an update on their family.
The Jawbreaker actress says she and her two daughters — Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13 — are "taking it day by day" after the Grey's Anatomy star was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.
"We have some professional therapists who are helping us, and we're just trying to have some hope and do it with dignity, grace, and love," Gayheart told PEOPLE at Step Up's 2025 Inspiration Awards.
"I mean, it's heartbreaking," she added. "My girls are really suffering, and we're just trying to get through it. It's a tough time."

Dane announced his diagnosis in April, noting that at the time he was a week away from returning to the Euphoria set to shoot season 3. "I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time," he said.
In June, the actor said he intends to keep acting for as long as possible. "It always feels great to be on a set. It's great to be employed," Dane said. "I love what I give. I'm going to keep doing it."
That same month, Dane discussed the symptoms of his condition in an interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America. "My left side is functioning, my right side has completely stopped working," he said. "I feel like maybe a couple more months and I won't have my left hand either. It's sobering."

Dane recently missed a planned Grey's Anatomy reunion with Jesse Williams at the 2025 Emmys. He and his former costar were set to present the award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, but Williams ended up announcing the winner by himself.
The following day, Dane posted a video on social media calling for further ALS research. "For over a century, ALS has been incurable, and we're done accepting the status quo," he said. "We need the fastest path to a cure."

The actor is partnering with the organization I Am ALS for Push for Progress, a fundraising initiative that hopes to raise $1 billion for ALS research in three years to help give "promising treatments to thousands of patients like me, and finally, finally, push towards ending this disease," Dane said. "There's so much more to learn, more to do, and we have to do it now."
