Professional soccer player Jorginho wants to "set the record straight" when it comes to an alleged incident with his stepdaughter and Chappell Roan.

The pro athlete previously accused Chappell Roan of sending a security guard to accuse his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Ada, of harassment while they were dining at a São Paulo hotel. On Monday, April 13, Jorginho wrote he now wants to clarify what happened as "new information has come to light."

Explaining that he made his initial statement "in the heat of the moment" and was acting "as any father would," Jorginho emphasized there was an incident between his daughter and a security guard, but "at the time, we acted on the information that was available to us."

"Since then, I have become aware of new information that has changed my understanding of parts of what happened," Jorginho wrote, explaining how the Grammy-winning singer reached out to his wife, Catherine Harding (who shares Ada with actor Jude Law), as well as their representatives.

"It became clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and had not asked anyone to approach them," he continued. "She was understanding and sympathetic to what had happened to our child."

Jorginho also noted that Pascal Duvier, the security guard who approached his daughter, has made his own statement, explaining that he was representing another artist at the hotel at that time. "While we still don't know what prompted him to approach them, and do not believe an 11-year-old at breakfast could reasonably be seen as any kind of a security threat, it is now clear he was not acting on behalf of Chappell," he wrote.

Duvier, who is a "protection specialist" and martial artist, said in a statement on Instagram that he had no connection to the "Pink Pony Club" singer and he takes "full responsibility" for what happened.

Jorginho concluded his own post by writing he felt it was important to clarify what happened, and has "regret" over how his initial statements impacted both Chappell Roan as well as his own family.

"I will always stand up for my family. But I also know how to recognize when things are not quite what they seemed at first," he wrote.

On March 21, Jorginho took to social media to share what he described as a "very upsetting situation" with his stepdaughter while she and her mom were at the Brazilian hotel, and attending Lollapalooza Brazil.

Jorginho said his daughter had been "incredibly excited" to see Roan. While both were eating breakfast at the hotel, the pro athlete wrote that his daughter "got excited" and wanted to see if it was truly Roan. Emphasizing that she never approached Roan directly, Jorginho said his daughter "simply walked past the singer's table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn't say anything, didn't ask for anything."

Jorginho alleged that a security guard soon approached their table and spoke "in an extremely aggressive manner," accusing his daughter of "disrespect" and harassment, which left her "extremely shaken" and in tears.

Following social media criticism of Roan over the incident, the "Hot to Go!" singer addressed the controversy on her Instagram Story, writing, "I'm just going to tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard, who is not my personal security."

"I didn't even see a woman and a child. Like, I did not. No one came up to me, no one bothered me," the 28-year-old singer explained. "I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. I did not. They did not come up to me — they weren't doing anything!"

In a follow-up post, Roan added, "I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children — that is crazy. I'm sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming that you would do something, and if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that."

On March 24, a representative for Roan explained to ** that the singer has a strict policy against aggressive conduct toward fans.

"Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother/daughter and a third-party security office," the rep said in a statement. "She did not see them at breakfast in her hotel, as she said in her video. She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them."

The statement continued, "Chappell holds her own teams to the highest standards and has zero tolerance for any kind of aggressive behavior towards her or her fans."**
