Nikki Glaser is hosting the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards, taking place Jan. 11

The comedian shouted out Michael B. Jordan in her opening monologue, pointing out that “we got two” of the actor with his playing twins in Sinners

“When I saw that, I was like Nikki B. Jerkin’,” Glaser joked, prompting Jordan’s mother to roll her eyes in the audience

Michael B. Jordan may regret bringing his mother as his date to the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.

Comedian Nikki Glaser didn’t hold back when including the Sinners star, 38, in her playful opening monologue at the 83rd annual ceremony on Jan. 11, highlighting that Jordan played twin characters Smoke and Stack in the Ryan Coogler-directed horror hit.

“I can’t believe it, we got two Michael B. Jordans. When I saw that, I was like, Nikki B. Jerkin’, because that was awesome,” quipped Glaser, 41, putting a spin on Jordan’s full name.

The joke landed with laughs in the room. But on the broadcast, Donna Jordan, mother of the actor, could be seen in the crowd visibly rolling her eyes, drink in hand.

Glaser then acknowledged the inappropriateness of the joke and that Donna was there, saying with a smile, “I’m so sorry. That should’ve been a DM.”

Jordan, who has brought his mother as a date to awards shows in the past, is nominated at this year’s Globes in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama category, one of Sinners' seven overall nominations. The Black Panther star is also up for an Actor Award and was recognized at this year’s Critics Choice Awards.

"My mom and dad sacrificed so much to provide for my sister, brother and me," Jordan told PEOPLE in 2020 when he was named Sexiest Man Alive.

He added at the time that he was “grateful” for Donna and his dad Michael A. Jordan. “Honestly, it’s like they all have had such an impact on me and who I am and how I approach each day. Without that, a lot of things about me just wouldn’t be the same. So it all comes back to that foundation.”

Glaser didn’t pull punches in her opening monologue for her second Globes hosting gig in a row. In addition to lusting after Jordan, she skewered One Battle After Another star Leonardo DiCaprio for dating younger women (quipping, “We don't know anything else about you!”) and called ceremony broadcaster CBS the "newest place to see B.S. news.”
