Riley Green said he "looked cool" after he was injured by a fan's phone that they threw at the stage during his concert in Australia on March 14
In an appearance on TODAY Australia, Green said this was the "first thing that's ever happened" while he is performing
Green's injury required stitches, which he shared in an Instagram post
Riley Green joked that he "looked cool" after being hit in the head with a fan's stray phone during a concert in Australia recently.
Green, 37, appeared on TODAY Australia, where he discussed the incident that left him needing stitches.
"But you did have a bit of an altercation. I can see the stitches in your ear..." host Sarah Abo began.
"Yeah. I didn't get my ear pierced. That was a cell phone at a show the other day," Green replied.
"I wasn't quick enough, I guess," Green said after host Karl Stefanovic described the incident as "terrible" while they rolled the clip.
"No, that's a phone. Seriously?" Abo replied.
"I've played, you know, 100 plus shows a year for 12 to 15 years, and that's the first thing like this has happened," Green said. "You can't let one person ruin the night for everybody, you know."
"No, but that's just that is not cool. Did they get the person?" Stefanovic chimed in. "Did they... do you know anything?"
"I feel like they did," Green said. "I think they got thrown out, and I looked cool. There's blood going down my face during the show."
"Well, you have a nice scar now," Abo said with a laugh.
On Saturday, March 14, the country star was performing at the Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, Australia when he was hit near his ear with the electronic device, per fan-captured TikTok footage.

In the clip, Green can be seen sporting a button-down shirt, jeans and a cowboy hat while holding a guitar at the mic when a phone is tossed at the side of his head.
The "Worst Way" singer appeared surprised by the incident and stopped the show as a guitar tech took his guitar.
In a separate fan-captured TikTok clip, a crew member could be seen wiping blood away from Green's neck.
"Damn, am I bleeding? Y'all see how tough I am?" he teased.

Green then pointed toward where the phone flew from and asked security to escort the concertgoer out of the crowd as the crowd booed the individual and cheered for the "You Look Like You Love Me" artist.
Another fan-captured TikTok video showed the concertgoer who threw the phone being escorted out of the venue.
