For Sammy Hagar, the one-time Van Halen frontman also known for his tequila and spirits lines, there's more than one way to rock. Lately, he credits his own new line of vitamins and supplements.

Hagar's Red Rocker Essentials, a new premium line of nutritional supplements developed by Nature’s Lab, are available now on the Red Rocker site, as well at Amazon.com and in Walmart stores. In addition to men's and women's multivitamins, the line includes an Energy Support powder, which promises "jitter-free energy," as well as an uplifted mood and sustained focus.

Hagar, who is 78, says he has long taken a multivitamin and amino acid supplements for endurance when touring and performing. "I need strength and flexibility to do a two-hour show at my age ... and I want to do this the rest of my life, as long as I can anyway," he told USA TODAY in an interview. "But I never knew what I was doing. I'm out there just doing it blindly."

Wayne Gorsek, a big music fan and also founder of the Las Vegas-based Nature’s Lab, attended several performances during Hagar's residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas in May 2025 and asked for a meeting. They talked about the need for musicians to have energy without relying on caffeine-based energy drinks or other stimulants.

"The first thing I told Wayne was, 'I need the energy without that crash,'" said Hagar, who along with his wife, Kari, visited Nature's Lab. After that, Gorsek brought Hagar some supplement packs and said, "'Here, take one of these before the show,'" Hagar said. "I took it about an hour before the show and, I tell you, I felt better. I felt more flexible."

Researchers have delivered conflicting information on the need for multivitamins and supplements in recent years, but a 2024 study found taking a multivitamin could help slow the cognitive decline associated with aging by as much as two years. Despite the mixed results found by studies, some experts suggest those over 50 may benefit from a multivitamin or supplements.

What's in Sammy Hagar's new supplements?

Among the ingredients in Red Rocker Essentials Men’s and Women's Multivitamins: tumeric (an anti-inflammatory), selenium (a mineral that promotes cardiovascular health), lycopene (an antioxidant for heart and prostate health; in the men's vitamin only) – and, for longevity, vitamin D3 (5,000 IUs) and methylated B-complex, which absorbs better than synthetic forms of B vitamins, Gorsek said.

Red Rocker Essentials Energy Support, a powder mixed with water, includes methylated B-vitamins and enfinity Paraxanthine, a compound the body naturally converts caffeine into but is thought to possibly be safer than caffeine for some. "It's a metabolite of caffeine that breaks down quicker," Gorsek said. "It doesn't have the side effects of caffeine, but it gives you that extra boost you need for energy (and) mental, so we get a safe, natural energy product without the crash, without the side effects."

Sammy Hagar teamed up with Nature's Lab on new Red Rocker Essentials, a new premium line of nutritional supplements.

"I'm not a big endorsement guy. I usually start my own companies," said Hagar, who famously sold his Cabo Wabo tequila brand for nearly $100 million before starting the Santo tequila in 2017. "But I thought, I can't do this one on my own. ... Wayne, he's like my supplement coach."

No 'sitting down halfway through' Sammy Hagar shows

It's timely for Hagar, who has an upcoming tour starting in June sandwiched between return residencies at Park MGM in Las Vegas March 12-21 and again Sept. 18-26. His band includes former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, drummer Kenny Aronoff and keyboardist Greg Phillinganes.

Hagar hopes his fans try the supplements, too. "I want my fans to hang in there with me," Hagar said. "I look in the audience now and I see, 12- and 14-year-old kids with their parents and I see people my age out there. … I don't want to see them sitting down halfway through the show."
