Skateboard Tony Hawk used to land first 900 sells for $1.15M at auction
The skateboard Tony Hawk used to land the 900 at the X Games in 1999 in San Francisco, has sold for $1.15 million at auction.
Auctioned on Wednesday, Sept. 24, the skateboard, used by the 10-time X Games gold medalist to land the first-ever 900 in the skateboard competition, more than doubled the presale estimate, Julien's Auctions told ESPN.
The identity of the buyer remains undisclosed, but Hawk expressed his hope that it would go to someone who truly appreciates it. He added that he would be "stoked" if it were displayed somewhere for others to see.
