Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Skylar Thompson was reportedly jumped and robbed in Dublin just days before the team's Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Thompson reportedly sustained minor injuries and is with the team. The Steelers confirmed there was a "situation" involving Thompson in Dublin on Friday, but did not go into details on the incident, per Pelissero.

"We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson on Friday night in Dublin. We will have no further comment at this time as we are working with NFL security to gather more information regarding the incident."

Despite the reported robbery, Thompson was on the sideline with the team Sunday. It was quite the contest, as the Steelers' defense turned in a strong performance early in a tight 24-21 win over the Vikings on Sunday.

Pittsburgh's defense harassed Vikings starter Carson Wentz for three quarters before the Vikings made a late comeback attempt. The Steelers ultimately held on thanks to a final defensive stand.

Thompson, 28, was placed on injured reserve following the team's Week 1 game against the New York Jets. He served as the team's emergency No. 3 quarterback in that contest. Thompson reportedly injured his hamstring during practice the following week. He was serving as the team's scout team quarterback. Thompson is eligible to return from injury following the team's Week 7 game.

Thompson is expected to serve as the team's No. 3 quarterback when he's eligible to return. Aaron Rodgers is firmly entrenched as the team's starter. Mason Rudolph is Rodgers' primary backup.

Thompson, a former seventh-round draft pick, has played in 10 NFL games, with three starts. In his limited action, Thompson has completed 58.7% of his passes. He's thrown one touchdown against three interceptions in the NFL.

The Steelers are in Ireland to kick off four straight weeks of international games around the NFL. The Steelers will return to the United States following Week 4, but the Vikings will remain overseas to play in London in Week 5.
