Teyana Taylor revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio was talking to her in a viral clip from Sundayâs Golden Globes ceremony.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, the actress recalled chatting with her One Battle After Another co-star about KPop Demon Hunters.
She said DiCaprio noticed her dancing to the filmâs Golden Globe-winning song, âGolden,â which sparked a lively conversation about the movie.
Teyana Taylor is setting the record straight on one of the most talked-about moments at the Golden Globes earlier this week.
In an interview with Access Hollywood on Tuesday, she confirmed the truth behind the viral clip that shows Leonardo DiCaprio passionately chatting with someone off-camera during the ceremony. âHe was talking to me! Yes!â Taylor told the outlet. âThe crazy part about it is, I am so blacked out from that day, that I want to say we might have been talking about KPop Demon Hunters because I was so happy when they won because my kids love KPop Demon Hunters.â
She added that she had been dancing along to the filmâs breakout track, âGolden,â when DiCaprio noticed her. âI think he caught me jamming. And thatâs when we started talking about it. But I just donât remember what he was saying. I donât even think I really even heard what he was saying. I probably was just laughing and kikiing back and had no clue what he was saying.â
âI do remember jamming so hard when âGoldenâ came on⊠and we went into this whole spiel about how Junie and Rue love KPop Demon Hunters,â she added, referring to her daughters. âBut I didnât know that that moment was being captured.â
The viral exchange unfolded on a night that already marked a major career milestone for Taylor. At the ceremony, she won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for her work in Paul Thomas Andersonâs One Battle After Another, in which she stars alongside DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Regina Hall.
In an emotional acceptance speech, Taylor thanked her family, collaborators, and faith. She then addressed âmy brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight,â adding, âOur softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine.â
The win continued a career-defining stretch for Taylor, who was one of ELLEâs Women in Hollywood honorees last fall. In her November interview with ELLE, she reflected on embracing complexity in her work and life, saying her One Battle After Another character, Perfidia, âshowed me what it feels like to not feel heard and seen, and how to stand up for yourself no matter whoâs in the way.â
