Chet Hanks, who is best known for declaring "White Boy Summer" back in 2021, recently revealed his unfortunate predicament to the world: he is stuck in Colombia after leaving his U.S. passport at home.
The 35-year-old detailed the situation in a Friday Instagram video, explaining that he was originally visiting Puerto Rico for a birthday party when he spontaneously decided to drop in on a friend just a few hours away in MedellĆn, Colombia. But Hanks, who has dual citizenship after his parents were naturalized in Greece in 2020, said he only brought his Greek passport because his U.S. passport was nearly expired.
"Sometimes they donāt let you in the country even if it hasnāt expired [because] itās about to expire,ā Chet said of his reasoning.
Upon arriving at the airport for his flight back to the U.S., Hanks said he was told at the gate that he wouldn't be able to enter with a foreign passport, despite being a U.S. citizen.

"I go to check into my flight three hours early, this is an international flight, and they tell me that if Iām using a foreign passport, I need a green card to get back into America," Hanks recalled, incredulous as he added, "I don't have a green card. Because Iām an American citizen.ā
After laughing at the situation, Chet continued, "I donāt have my American passport with me. So Iām literally stuck in Colombia. Iām stuck in MedellĆn. "
Hanks did admit that there are "worse places to be stuck," but reiterated that he still doesn't know the solution to his problem.
"I literally have no f---ing idea what Iām gonna do," he said. "And the only embassy to get this s--- settled is in BogotĆ”. I donāt want to go to BogotĆ”, so, uh, yeah. Free me. You know what I'm saying? Free me!"

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to reps for Chet and Tom Hanks for comment.
Below his post, commenters had little sympathy for the actor and couldn't help but crack jokes.
"Better call someone in your family to have them FedEx your passport to you ASAP," one Instagram user wrote, prompting another to reply, "Tom Hanks doesnāt have the best of luck with FedEx." The latter was a winking reference to the Oscar winnerās role in Cast Away, in which he plays a meticulous FedEx employee who becomes the sole survivor of a plane crash after washing up on a deserted island.
