Down goes Georgia football in another upset during the 2025 college football season.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, Alabama knocked off the Bulldogs for the second straight season, this time a 24-21 loss for Georgia at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia. The Bulldogs (3-1, 1-1 SEC) struggled to get off the field on third downs against the Crimson Tide offense.

Alabama converted 12 of 19 third-down conversions to keep Kirby Smart's Bulldogs' offense sidelined. Georgia also committed six penalties for 68 yards, including a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the final drive.
Despite losing to Alabama last season, the Bulldogs were able to win the SEC championship and earn a College Football Playoff berth. So by no means does the loss knock Georgia out of playoff contention, but they have a smaller margin for error.
So, now the question is: Where will Georgia fall in the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 rankings ahead of Week 6? Here's a look at the possibilities:

Despite Nick Saban's retirement, Alabama football remains a kryptonite for Smart and the Bulldogs. Smart dropped to 1-7 against the Crimson Tide as the Bulldogs' coach, including 0-2 against Kalen DeBoer.
Georgia has enough meat on its schedule to bounce back from the loss, but it will certainly fall from its No. 3 ranking following the loss. Like the Bulldogs, No. 4 LSU also lost to No. 13 Ole Miss and No. 2 Penn State was knocked off by No. 5 Oregon. Florida State is another top-8 program that was knocked off.
Here's how the rest of the top 10 fared in Week 5, and how those games might affect the Bulldogs' ranking:
