In November 2025, the former TLC star went social media official with her former bodyguard, Steve Neild. Kate shared the exciting news by posting a TikTok and Instagram video that showed her smiling with Neild as she wrote that she's "obsessed" with him.
Kate previously teased that she was dating a man named Steve in October 2025 and shared that they had been in a relationship for over a year. However, she's kept the details of their romance private — except for a few mentions of her kids' approval.
Neild previously served as the Gosselins' bodyguard, working with the family in the height of their fame on Jon & Kate Plus 8. In 2009, Kate was accused of having an affair with Neild by her then-husband, Jon Gosselin. She vehemently denied the allegations and called them "disgusting."
Kate, who welcomed eight kids with Jon, got divorced in 2009 and continued her reality TV empire with her solo show, Kate Plus 8. Meanwhile, after Neild served as the Gosselins' bodyguard, he founded his own risk management company and is the father of two children.

Neild began working as a bodyguard for the Gosselin family after they skyrocketed to fame on Jon and Kate Plus 8.
After the titular couple got divorced in 2009, Neild continued working for Kate and was pictured at several of her events — including book signings, press events and award shows. His last photographed appearance as her bodyguard was in 2012.
In 2013, he started working at Viacom as a security and safety consultant, before founding his own company, Prudent Risk Management International, in 2020, per his LinkedIn.

Neild shares two children, sons Kristopher and Michael, with his ex-wife, Gina Neild, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
The former couple married in September 1990, and he filed for divorce in September 2023. They settled the divorce three months later, but details of their custody arrangement were not publicly disclosed.

While the Multiple Blessings author was still married to Jon, she faced allegations that she had cheated on her husband with Neild in 2009. Kate vehemently denied the infidelity claims at the time.
“The next story coming out from the animals that stalk us is about our security person and his family,” she told PEOPLE in May 2009. “Already the allegations they’re making about me are disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable, and I am horrified. I have not worked this hard to take myself down."
She added that Neild and his family "absolutely love us" and that they had all spent a considerable amount of time together.
"Of course, both of them travel with us at times, and we’ve spent holidays together, because, in this situation, your circle grows smaller and smaller, and it’s very natural to become friends with your manager, your publicist, your security team ... they’re the only people you have left. And now they’re coming under fire," she explained.
After Kate made her romance with Neild public in late 2025, her estranged son Collin and ex-husband Jon shared their candid thoughts and resurfaced the allegations.
"Guess who really ruined the marriage," Jon wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post in September 2025 alongside screenshots of articles linking Kate to Neild. He added on his Instagram Stories, "I told you all" and "No one believed me - guess I was right!!!"
Meanwhile, Collin also released a statement. He wrote on his Instagram Stories in September 2025, "What really upsets me is that my mom had an affair with our bodyguard way back in 2009, and for years would share hotel rooms with him while we went on family vacations, while I was in a connected room! Now everyone thinks her being with him is some cute novel romance."

Before making her relationship with Neild public, Kate alluded to the romance several times and accidentally revealed his name. In a September 2025 TikTok video, Gosselin shared some rare insight into her love life in a fan Q&A.
"I [have been] dating somebody for the past ... year? A little over a year, maybe like 14, 15 months?" she said. "I'm super, super happy."
She added that the person she is in a relationship with is "somebody that I've known for a really long time" and that she's "very, very happy."
"He doesn't really want to be in TikToks," Kate further explained. "Can't blame him really, I guess, but you perhaps will catch a peep of him, here and there, once in a while, going forward."
Just a few days later, Kate went live on TikTok and accidentally mentioned his name while speaking off-camera.
She shared that her romance with Neild makes her kids “so happy”

After dropping the name of her boyfriend and their dating timeline, she assured fans that her kids have given them their stamp of approval. In an October 2025 TikTok video, she replied to a fan who told her that she looks "so happy" in her relationship.
"My kids always worried about me being alone when they were grown. This makes them so happy too," she wrote. "Which of course makes me even happier!"
Kate and Jon, who were married from 1999 to 2009, share twins Cara and Mady and sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah. However, Kate is estranged from Collin.
